Pampas were handed the early chance to get points on the board, Ignacio Inchauspe took the opportunity to slot the 3 points. 2 minutes in and Pampas lead 0 - 3.

Pampas get a roll on with the lineout maul and Peñarol stop it illegally. Mateo Sanguinetti gets the yellow for the offence and Pampas have a penalty try on the 9th minute. 0 - 10 to Pampas.

It was now time for Peñarol to test the discipline of Pampas and won 2 quick penalties on the 11th and 14th minute markers. Tite Etcheverry took his chances and brough the score line back to 6 - 10. Pampas couldn’t take advantage of the extra man.

Peñarol managed to make a further blow when the full 15 players returned, Manuel Diana managed to drive over from close range which Etcheverry converted and put Peñarol ahead for the first time in the match. 25 minutes gone and its 13 -10.

3 minutes later, Pampas got back infornt with a try from hooker Ramiro Gurovich took the score to 13 - 15. Inchaupse added the extras to take the score to 13 - 17. On the 33rd minute, Pampas stretched the lead again to 13 - 20 through a penalty kick from Inchaupse. Peñarol were struggling with their usual super strength of discipline this season.

Peñarol turn the screw at the lineout when they find themselves around the Pampas 5 metre line on the 36th minute. The lineout maul is unstoppable, Jouaquin Myszka is guided over the line at the back of the maul. Etcheverry adds the extras and we are all square as the half time whistle goes. 20 - 20 a piece.

The start of the second was hard fought with the deadlock finally being broken on the 54th minute. Peñarol score a great team try, where they exploit gaps all over the park by the finally finding Lucas Bianchi to ghost through a open gap. The flanker had acres of space to charge to the try line. Etcheverry added the conversion, after 55 minutes we are now at 27 -20. Can Peñarol hold on?

The discipline got tested again, when Mateo Perillo got 10 minutes in the bin. Can Pampas make this advantage count?

6 minutes later, Justo Piccardo powered himself over the Peñarol defence to score on the left. The conversion was too difficult for Inchauspe to bring the sides level again. 72 minutes and Peñarol still lead 27 - 25.

With 8 minutes left, Pampas have to go for it now to secure top spot. With 5 minutes remaining, Pampas go full Harlem Globetrotters and chuck the ball around. Finding Inchauspe in space after a number of offloads, he duly gobbles up the open space infront of him. Diving in to score the try that surely wins Pampas the tie?

76 minutes, Inchauspe makes the conversion, score sits at 27 - 32. Peñarol pepper the Pampas defence but Pampas stand strong to set up a tie next week against Dogos XV in Buenos Aires. Whilst, Peñarol will host Selknam in Montevideo.
